Quinta do Scoto - Guest Facilities

Entrada

Everyone who stays with us at the Quinta, except on a room only basis, is invited to have breakfast in the Manor House, served in the Breakfast Room and Dining Room. Both rooms have traditional 18th century Portuguese wall tiles and antique furniture. Breakfast is traditional continental Portuguese style with fresh breads and cakes, cereals, ham, cheeses and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Alternatively, if guests prefer, they can request to breakfast either in their room or in the grounds of the Quinta, and a basket of breakfast goodies will be delivered to their room.

Guests have free access to a wireless internet connection that can be utilized with their own laptop or, alternatively, there is a laptop at the Quinta that is available for guests to borrow, on which DVDs can be played. To maintain a peaceful environment for our guests to enjoy, we do not have televisions at the Quinta.

There is also a lounge in the Entrada (Portuguese Entrance Hall) of the Manor House which is available for guests to use at any time to relax, read or watch a movie from our DVD collection. An extensive library of books, games, videos and DVDs is provided for our guests to enjoy.

Guests are free to explore the seven acre (three hectare) grounds of the Quinta and to make use of the large swimming pool (0.9m -2.2m deep), sun terrace and barbecue area adjacent to the Celeiro. There is also a guest kitchen at the end of the Celeiro near to the BBQ area. To save space in your luggage, we provide Pool towels for your stay, which you can also take to the beach.

To help with Airport Security, your Suite will have a selection of Body Wash, Shampoo, Hair Conditioner, Bubble Bath and Hand Wash, so you can reduce the liquids you carry.

There is ample free car parking space within the grounds of the Quinta, close to the Celeiro and Manor House.

We are located 15km from Lisbon and are less than 6km from the historic town of Sintra so are centrally placed for visits to the Lisbon Peninsular, as well as the surrounding areas.  Travelling into Lisbon is easy since we are a 10 minute walk from Meleças station, from where you can take a 30 minute train ride into Lisbon on weekdays (tickets are €1.85 each way for adults– 2016 prices); some parts of Lisbon may involve a change of train but this is not complicated. Trains run every 15 minutes through rush hours and every hour outside of these. At weekends, the trains run generally every hour. During weekdays, we would recommend travelling to Lisbon by train rather than by car because of traffic and parking problems in the city. You can also catch a train to Sintra from Meleças, changing at Caçem or direct from Rio de Mouro, and from Meleças to Queluz Palace or up to Obidos and Mafra which are all well worth a visit.

Lisbon airport is 22km away (a 20 minute journey without traffic, but longer in the rush hour) and you can get to the Quinta either with a 5 minute Metro ride (3 stops) to Oriente Station and a train ride direct to Rio do Mouro Station (where we will meet you if you call us with the time of the train you are on) or we can arrange for you to be met by a taxi at the airport which would cost around 30 euros (subject to traffic) plus parking and tip, or you can travel by car. We would not recommend you taking a taxi from the Airport rank as Lisbon taxi drivers are notorious for not knowing anywhere outside Lisbon so get lost and then charge you for it!

We are a 30 minute drive away from many fantastic beaches too, many of which can be reached by public transport. We are centrally and conveniently located to visit many places of interest and are not located actually in a 'tourist location' and, as such, our guests seem to prefer to return to a more relaxed typical and friendly Portuguese lifestyle, which is less boisterous, and where traditional restaurants are both good and inexpensive.

There are 8 cafes and 7 restaurants, all within walking distance from the Quinta, and many more within a short drive or a longer walk. There is a particularly good restaurant just a 10 minute walk away which has fantastic food and wine too of course at very reasonable prices (you can expect to pay around €15 a head including wine depending upon the menu selection). We do also have a large BBQ and a Guest Kitchen, should you wish to self-cater.
